The daily recommendation for a cardio workout is 30 minutes each day. In order to not become bored of your exercise sessions it’s important to vary your cardio whenever possible.
One of the most popular forms of cardio is running. This can be done by anyone; however it can become boring very quick. Therefore try running at various locations instead of the same route each time. Also if you enjoy music invest in an mp3 player to enjoy your favourite music while you run. Another good option is to use the treadmill in a gym as they usually have televisions for you to watch while running.
Running is not for everyone and can cause problems for people’s knees so another great cardio exercise is cycling. You can mix your training up so instead of cycling at one constant speed you can mix fast and slow bursts. This is a great training method and can be great reducing boredom. Just be sure you put the effort in as it can be easy to simply stop peddling and coast.
Swimming is another great cardio exercise which involves a full body workout. There is also less impact on your body when swimming compared with running so less chance of injuries.
The one thing you need to make sure when doing cardio exercise is that you put the effort in. If you can talk normally while doing cardio you aren’t working hard enough and you won’t get the benefits of a good hard workout.
